Friday Lunch; Mini Golf; Farewell Love Notes From Jacob's Kids

The last day of Jacob's family's visit found us at the mission office church building that morning having a leadership training meeting with 6 new district leaders and 3 new sister training leaders.

Jacob's family had been back at the house packing up to leave. They met us at Panera for lunch.

We took a long lunch break with them so we could work in a game of mini golf before they headed out of town.

Probably the most intense golfer was Logan.

Claire kept at it until she got her ball in each hole.

Emma got a HOLE IN ONE on this hole!!!! She was ECSTATIC!!!!

Natalie made a dandelion headband.

After the putting came the good-bying. SAD!! 

It always makes me tear up thinking of being separated from loved ones again.

It had been so nice and fun to spend time with this family. Cute kids with fun and individual personalities.

But, time to dry my eyes and move on with the work at hand. We had to go back to the office to have a planning meeting with the assistants. Then we were off to Costco and Walmart to get our weekly groceries and buy food for our departing missionaries.

The work MUST go on!!!! Even though I do NOT consider going to Costco and Walmart on a Friday date night!!

Once the groceries had been purchased and we were arriving back at home, we were very happy we'd decided to get the job done that evening. We had a busy baptism day scheduled for the next day.

When we walked in the house, we breathed that big sigh of relief we always do when we see our house cleaner has been here. Especially after 2 weeks' worth of visitors, it was really needing a cleaning.

We noticed some love notes had been left for us from the grandchildren.

They had decorated my computer work space in the kitchen and had stuck notes all over Glen's office as well.

Those little cuties!! They were still warming our hearts even after they had left us!!

As soon as I texted Laurie about how much we loved the love notes, she sent me the following photos as she'd snapped them while the kids were in note-making, note-sticking action.

A few days earlier Glen had gotten a phone call that wasn't particularly great news about a few of the missionaries. He was a little miffed about their lack of judgment for a few hours one day and was venting his frustration to the family.

As he was venting, he was eating Popsicles. One after another after another. As he opened the freezer to pull out yet another one, Emma exclaimed, "Grandpa!! You are eating ANOTHER Popsicle??!!??"

She had heard Glen talking to each one of the missionaries about what had happened and had enjoyed hearing their various comments/excuses. When Jacob returned from his work trip, she delightedly regaled him with what her grandpa had been dealing with while he had been gone for a couple of days.

I took this picture to send to Jacob's family to let them know there are now more Popsicles in the house all ready for the next time there is a need for venting.

Imagine our delight when we found this note tucked deep inside the freezer that the grandchildren had left for us.

These last three photos they took on their way out are so dear.

We enjoyed them tremendously and miss them terribly.

So glad we have the photo memories to remind us of the sweet and funny moments we spent together. Love you so much Jacob, Laurie, Natalie, Emma, Luke, Logan and Claire!!!!
