G and K and What They Say: June 2026

The day after Jacob's family arrived in Utah, we had a bridal shower for Emma.

We were able to meet Wesley's mother and two of his sisters. I was so happy Mom was there. Nani had brought her. Lorene brought two of her granddaughters who were so happy and especially interested in what was in each gift.

Klarissa had arrived in town a couple of days earlier and we were so happy she was there to join in with the family wedding festivities. Jane, Laurie's stepmother, was able to attend.

So grateful for Sarah's contribution of the homemade cinnamon rolls and Rebecca's contribution of the breakfast egg casserole.

Natalie was the one who spearheaded the shower. She sent out the cutest invitations and provided the banner and the beautiful flowers.

Laurie, Emma, and I were on the third table enjoying the cute "love is in bloom" banner on the fireplace.

After we ate our brunch, we moved to the living room so we could gather around to watch Emma open her gifts.

But first, Emma told us all about her love story with how she met Wesley. She was adorable in her sharing of details with her family and Wesley's family chiming in on things she left out.

Michelle was so sweet to send a gift from Yakima. So sad she was unable to join the family fun.

Toilet paper was part of my gift to Emma. I knew she (and Natalie) would laugh at that since they both take home a package of toilet paper when they come to visit so they don't have to pay for it themselves.

The last gift Emma opened was from Claire who had made Emma a beautiful quilt. Claire has been making quilts for several years now and really enjoys using her sewing skills in this way.

In the previous post, I shared some of the various activities the whole family participated in when not involved in wedding stuff.

The day before the wedding, Jacob and Laurie were busy doing last minute wedding preparations. The tablecloths all needed to be washed and the wrinkles steamed out. That process quickly changed to eliminate the steaming because there were too many tablecloths and they were way too big.

Another steaming project was for Emma's wedding dress.

Dress all packed up and ready for Emma and Wesley to take it to the temple.

Luke had been secretly working on an art project to present to Wesley and Emma for a wedding gift. He started on it at home and finished it up and got it framed once he got to Utah.

It was a very beautiful day for a wedding.

We were so happy Wesley and Emma chose Glen to be their sealer in the Bountiful Temple.

The wedding luncheon was held at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Trolley Square. I thought it was a great idea to use the bridal bouquet as the centerpiece at the head table and then the bridesmaid bouquets on each of the other tables.

After the meal, there was a little program with various people speaking and the siblings presenting individual, personal, funny gifts to the bride and groom.

We came back to the house to lounge around for a while until it was time to drive to Springville for the reception. Look at birthday boy Eli spending his birthday doing wedding stuff.

The Springville Museum of Art was a very lovely venue for the evening wedding reception.

Wesley's sister had presented him with a small "Just Married" Herbie, the Love Bug car at the luncheon and it was on display at the sign-in table. So cute!!

Luke's artwork was on display in the museum, just waiting for Wesley and Emma to notice it amongst all the other artwork.

Seth and Dezi Allen were at the reception, and it was great to visit with Jacob's best friend from Georgia. We learned Seth had just had a hip replacement after having sepsis infection in his hip. Scary!

Emma's favorite food is pizza, so that is what she wanted at her wedding. Pizza, gelato, and cake. It was all displayed in a lovely way all around the room.

We learned Emma's zipper had broken when they were outside taking photos when Wesley lifted her up. Jacob had been asking everyone if they knew how to fix a broken zipper.

Emma's bridesmaids were working on getting her out of the dress while she was enjoying eating a cup of gelato.

We were all anxiously waiting to see if the zipper could be fixed when we finally got word Dallas had been able to get the zipper working once again. Hurrah!!!!

Emma emerged wearing a smile on her face as she was back in her wedding gown and ready to join Wesley in cutting the cake.

Abe had been asked to be the MC for the rest of the evening, so he got the party part kicked off announcing the cutting of the cake.

Then let the dancing begin!

Emma went up to the balcony to throw her bouquet. I had to laugh when I saw Magnus wanting in on the action and saw how determined Claire was to try and catch the bouquet.
