Enough Already Kim--I didn't want you to take me this serious!!!

Yesterday morning I received a call from Kimmy and she made absolutely NO SENSE to me. I immediately left work and came home and took Kim to the emergency room.

This was a picture of her in the emergency room.

After 5 hours in the emergency room, they admitted her into the hospital and she spent the night.

Kim had a series of 3 mild strokes (if you can call a stroke mild)and they are keeping her in the hospital for the time being to evaluate her to identify the cause.

She had no other symptoms other than slurred and incoherent speech. The good news is that her speech is getting more normal and she is under good care.

Thanks for all your concerns and prayers.

I had told Kim that with all her medical issues, we had reached the maximum out of pocket expense for our insurance for this year and that meant if she was going to get sick, to get it done before the end of the year. While I appreciate her efforts to do what I ask, ENOUGH ALREADY.

We love you Kimmy and take care of yourself and get better.

Shopping For the Pregnant One

Sarah came to town this weekend and Rebecca and I had a great time shopping for maternity clothes with her. My only regret is that I forgot to take my camera and wasn't able to document the girl with the fake baby belly attached to her--that the store so kindly provided--that added 20 weeks to her pregnancy so we could get the full effect of how the clothes would look on a pregnant woman. She did look cute in all the clothes--big, fake belly and all.


It was nice to have a day out with my girls. Thanks, Jeff, for letting Sarah come up.


And thanks, Dallas, for watching Brooke all day so we could shop and talk and laugh and enjoy a mother/daughters day together!

Albuquerque

This past weekend found us on a road trip to Albuquerque. We made a stop in Monticello to attend the temple and spend the night.



We saw lots of beautiful country and even a gorgeous rainbow.


Steven and Patricia seemed happy to see us and were gracious hosts the two nights we stayed with them.





We attended a second temple--the Albuquerque Temple.


After the temple, we ate the most delicious meal at Paul's Monterey Inn.


And that was the point in our trip where the camera battery ran out. OOOOPS!!! Forgot to check the battery before we left. Oh, well. I'll now have to just tell you about how we helped clean the church on Saturday morning, went to breakfast on our way to the football game, watched BYU squeak out a victory, ate dinner at Garduno's, watched some other game on T.V., woke up the next morning to snow, ate a delicious breakfast cooked by Steven, bid our good friends farewell and made the long drive back home. Just use your imagination on what those pictures might have looked like.

TRIPLE Thumbs Up!!

There was a little detail I left out about our recent trip to Las Vegas--or I should say on our trip home from Las Vegas. We stopped at Jeff and Sarah's home for a very short visit as planned.

I had asked Sarah to get me a small bridal photo of her to put on display by Rebecca's bridal photo and she had complied with my request. When I pulled her bridal photo out of the envelope, there was this picture there as well.


WOW!! That took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting two photos, especially one with such an exciting announcement on it.


Sarah looks pretty pleased with herself and Jeff is a happy papa-to-be. Way to go, guys! CONGRATULATIONS to the two of you!! A little baby Excell due to join the family on 6-10-10.

But, I'm not sure Sarah realizes that other people in the family have special news of their own...


And not to be outdone...


That makes for TRIPLE the exciting news!!!

Abe Was Here

Just as Glen was leaving for the weekend--to go to a football game, of course--Abe was arriving in town. He had a wedding to attend in SLC. His friend Brian was getting married and here he is primping for the occasion (okay he's putting on his tie, but these are the absolute only pictures I took of him all weekend, so what can I say???).



Later in the evening, after all the wedding festivities were over, Abe and I hooked up with Rebecca's family for dinner at Olive Garden and this is how Caroline's little happy face transformed when she saw me...


She was totally traumatized and I felt the same way when I saw that I was the one causing her such distress--by just smiling at her and talking to her while she was in her baby carrier. Should we say she's now entered the mama's girl stage or am I really that scary?!?

FAVORITE ABE MOMENTS:

**Watching him run around the restaurant chasing Brooke who liked to escape as often as she could.

**Learning he had awakened the first morning here an hour earlier than scheduled because no one had bothered to set the clock in that bedroom back last week.

**Discovering he'd made up a big batch of cookie dough just so he could eat the raw dough.

**Having some good belly laughs with him while watching a funny movie together.

**Sharing our Sunday dinner with him before he left to go back to San Francisco.

Some Of Us Didn't Care That It Was the Day After Halloween

Halloween didn't end for us on October 31st--no siree. We had a family party to attend the next day at Mom's and some of us were very excited to dress up. Some people spent more time than others on their costumes. Rebecca had definitely done a very elaborate sewing job to transform herself and her husband into Cinderella and Prince Charming.


What a handsome prince! I really like the clock in the background--even though it's not quite yet striking the magical hour of midnight.


Brooke had to make friends with the stuffed turkey before she could strike her pose as the fairy godmother.


Hey, I thought the story went that Cinderella lost her beautiful slipper--not the fairy godmother...


In sticking with the family's fairy tale theme, Caroline was the cutest pumpkin ever.

Once at Mom and Dad's house, we found other costumed family members. Rachel was the cutest, little green witch and Wes was the best-looking fireman ever.


Nani was very punny as Smartie pants with Smarties candy packages taped all over her pants. She kept sharing her candies with all the little kids until by the end of the night she had none on her pants and the kids were walking out with handfuls of Smarties.


Dad was a good sport to dress up in camo costume despite his slinged arm with Mom nearby as his able Indian nurse ready to care for all his needs.


Glen and I were rednecks.
