Sarah--Top of Utah Half Marathon; Abe Goes to ER Again; BYU Football Fans

Sarah participated in yet another half marathon. She is still fulfilling her goal of a half marathon each month. This one was Top of Utah, so she had us keep her boys overnight so Jeff could go with her to spend the night in Logan.

I am always happy and relieved to hear she completed the race.

Eli, Carson, Lincoln, and Jonah decided they would all like to go eat dinner with us at Texas Roadhouse.

The next day Eli had made an appointment for himself at Costco to get contacts. We took him since Sarah and Jeff weren't home yet. Exciting day for a teenager to get contacts.

Glen went from grandparent mode in the morning to temple sealer mode in the afternoon. 

He had scheduled a special sealing session with his sister Barbara, her daughter and husband, her granddaughter and husband, Glen's other sister Maurine and husband, and I also joined the group.

After the temple experience, we all went to dinner at El Matador. They can easily accommodate larger groups, and it is close to the temple which made it a great pick for our group meal.

Unfortunately, Abe's heart problem saga continues... 

His first hospital visit was July 13th when the pericarditis was diagnosed. Six weeks after initial onset, Klarissa sent out this disturbing text on Saturday, August 23rd:

This is the report from his cardiology appointment two days later.

The doctor has him still on colchicine and has added Naproxin as an anti-inflammatory. This is what Abe researched about that:

Abe's health update two days later was Naproxin is A+. That is great news! Klarissa reported he is looking and feeling better. 

We had a nice, long talk with him on Sunday evening. He reported he was outside taking an 8-mile walk. He was enjoying the nice weather and feeling so much better. He feels like his insides are healing and he isn't struggling to breathe or having pain. So nice to hear!!

Let's hope it is smooth sailing or happy healing or whatever one would wish for him to now be on the path to full recovery!!

Look at this little BYU fanatic who is as thrilled as her father and her grandfather that football season has begun once again. 

Glen likes to take grandchildren with him to a football game. This was the game he chose because it was earlier in the evening and earlier in the season so they would not freeze. His game buddies were Carson, Caroline, Spencer, Eli, and Jeff. 

Good thing for everyone--including Jacob and Claire--that BYU won. They won by a landslide, so everyone was in a good mood.

We attended Jeff and Sarah's ward the following day. I was impressed that after staying up late the night before, Eli and Carson were ready for 9 a.m. church, taking their spots up front in preparation to help pass the sacrament. 

Jeff organized with Glen to be their ward's 5th Sunday teacher. Their ward's theme for the year is about temples, and they had wanted to get a sealer to come talk to their ward members. 

Glen did a great job, as usual. Sarah gave a really sweet intro about her father. It was nice for me to just be a bystander in the class.

With the new school year having begun, it means time for Caroline to start receiving invitations to the school dances. Cute invitation. 

She is all painted up to go to her high school football game.

Ben, Haley, Rebecca, Sarah, and Glen are all working super hard to get the escape room business they have been working on for months ready to open the middle of this month. 

They were all going to be able to go there to work on Labor Day, so I thought it would be helpful to keep Ben's three boys all day in hopes Ben and Haley would be able to work uninterrupted. They have set up a playroom for the boys at the business, but sometimes children can be needy.

We went to North Canyon Park, and the boys had a fun time for a while until they got too hot and sweaty. That playground is best in the evenings when it is shaded.

The boys played together so well all day long. 

I did my best to stave off giving them candy until after lunch (despite their asking for it early on), and enjoyed watching Maverick organize his M&Ms.

We love having deer roaming through the neighborhood because they are fun to watch and are especially interesting for the grandchildren to see.
