Quotes of the Week

"One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others."
-- Lewis Carroll

"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored."
-- Earl Nightingale

"It is necessary for us to learn from others' mistakes. You will not live long enough to make them all yourself."
 -- Hyman George Rickover

June Family Dinner

Birthday boys for June who were at the family party (and who wanted to be acknowledged) were Eli and Andy. Too bad Carson was sick and missed his birthday month.

Quotes of the Week

"Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger."
-- Christian Larsen

"Accepting responsibility for your life means understanding that YOU are responsible for creating the life you want to live. If you don't do it, who else will? This is a tremendously empowering realization, or at least it was for me. When I realized I was responsible for myself, I stopped making excuses and I stopped waiting for others to help me. Instead, I started changing my life. I'll say it again: YOU can decide what you want your life to be about."
-- Ryan Murdock

Quotes of the Week

"Just because you've made mistakes doesn't mean your mistakes get to make you. Take notice of your inner critic, forgive yourself and move on."
 -- Robert Tew

"My strength did not come from lifting weights. My strength came from lifting myself up when I was knocked down."
-- Bob Moore

"Find someone who isn't afraid to admit that they miss you. Someone who knows that you're not perfect, but treats you as you are. One who gives their heart completely. Someone who says I love you and means it. Find someone who wouldn't mind waking up with you in the morning and seeing your wrinkles and your gray hair but still falls in love with you all over again."

Summertime Fun

Memorial Day weekend found us out on the bike trail going for our first ride of the season.

Last week I got invited to the splash pad park for a picnic lunch to have a joint birthday celebration for Eli and Brooke.
Brooke was very excited to show me and use her brand new My Little Pony umbrella.
Lunch looks delicious.

Then off to the splash pad they went. Somehow I became the designated body warmer for the little wet boy Spencer.
Look how little Madison is getting stronger.
She was enjoying the park, but was her mother...?
We were able to go out bike riding again this last weekend. We really loved it when the Legacy Parkway Trail got connected to the Jordan River Parkway Trail by the Chevron Mile.

Now when we drive down straight west of us, park the car and get on the trail, we have the option of not only riding north all the way to Farmington, but we can ride south for miles and miles and miles. It's awesome!
I thought it looked hilarious when Glen decided to carry our water bottles on his belt loops. I was happy he was carrying the extra weight of my water bottle. He said it was great because the ice water in them kept his body cool.
Our fingers are crossed for another weekend of good weather and enough time to go bike riding again. It's one of our favorite activities.

Grandpa's Little Helper

Glen soon had a little helper right by his side when he was fixing the dryer. Eli was eager to help vacuum all the dust out of the inside of the machine.
Glen was using his trusty aid--YouTube--to help him figure out exactly how to install the new parts.
Soon Eli was amusing himself by vacuuming himself.

I am happy to report that despite the vacuum suctioning of his skin, Eli did a great job sucking up all the dust in the laundry room.

I am unhappy to report there is another part Glen needs to replace on the dryer.

I am happy to report the dryer still works despite the needed replacement.

Perhaps we will invite Eli over for the follow-up fix-up when the part arrives. My guess is he will enjoy vacuuming again whether or not any dust has accumulated in the interim.

Quotes of the Week

"Leave people to their opinions and judgments. They cannot harm you; it is their understanding that is faulty, not yours."
-- Leon Brown

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."
-- C.S Lewis

"Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?"
-- L.M. Montgomery

"I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
-- Groucho Marx

May Family Dinner Birthday Party

Seth and Kenna were kind enough to host the May family dinner party at their new home--complete with fire pit in the back yard. Seth was anxious to treat us to some delicious meat cooked in his smoker.
Look how big baby Samantha is getting.
Chatting it up before dinner.

Carson is off exploring with Sarah close beside him.
Yummy dinner as always.
Madison all snuggled up in the crook of Amanda's arm.
Something was catching the eye of everybody at this table.

Getting ready for the birthday singing and candle lighting and blowing out.
Brooke has caught some kind of a bug that she is cradling in her hands.

Ahhh, look at this cute couple (and their cute baby).
And look at this cute couple of boys--Austin and Preston.
Another fun party. We appreciated Seth and Kenna's hospitality.

Quotes of the Week

"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love."
-- Henry Drummond

"No matter how dirty your past is, your future is still spotless."
 -- Drake

"Confidence is the only key. I know a lot of people who aren't traditionally 'beautiful' -- not symmetrical or perfect-bodied or perfect-skinned. But none of that matters because all that shines through is their confidence, humor and comfort with themselves. I can't think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself."
-- Emma Stone
