In Keeping With Tradition

At Christmas, and during other holidays, it is often a time for families to take part in specific traditions that mean a lot to the people participating. Our family is no different, and one such tradition that Glen seems to take real seriously at this time of the year is that he goes to whatever bowl game BYU is participating in. This year found us, once again, steeped (definition--to saturate with or subject thoroughly to) in that tradition (definition--time-honored practice).

I guess BYU loves tradition as well because it seems that year after year after year they keep going to the bowl game in Las Vegas and this year was no exception. We are becoming quite familiar with that city as we seem to go there often. This time we were looking forward to having Jeff and Sarah spend most of the week there with us. We've had other family members and friends go with us in years past and it looks like Glen is trying to indoctrinate our newest son-in-law to the annual family tradition by having him participate this year. Sounded like fun to us!

On our way there, we had to make a detour in Orem for a while so that we could tend Rebecca's little girls while she worked for a few hours at the elementary school. She was excited to see a Chick-Fil-A spread all ready for her consumption when she returned home.

Our condo in Las Vegas worked out wonderfully for us to have our individual sleeping and bathroom areas and then have the common kitchen/dining/living room areas where we could be together to talk, eat, play games, watch T.V., etc.

We took advantage of the exercise room a few mornings (sorry no pictures of that) and Jeff and Sarah went out into the inner courtyard to use the hot tub (see Sarah's blog for that photo) and play on the enlarged chess set.

Some of our time was spent shopping.

We watched a couple of very entertaining shows.

Bowling was definitely a highlight--especially when Sarah put a bowling ball under her shirt to see what her pregnant tummy will look like in a few more months (see her blog for that picture).

We definitely avoided any gambling activities and chose going to church and to the temple instead. The temple reminds me of Brooke. Whenever she plays with her building blocks, she always stacks up the blocks into a structure that she calls a temple.

I can see the resemblance!

Hey! Brooke's looking at the camera in that last picture!

I like the picture where Dad is hogging up the whole couch and Sarah and Jeff are smooshed to one side...or would they be smooshed to one side regardless?

Dallas isn't sure if he likes BYU football, so I think next year we should be invited on the bowl-game trip.

The last picture with Brooke, it looks like she's holding a little gold piece of something. Was that a coincidence or is that her Angel Moroni?

I'm glad Becky noticed that picture. I was surprised it didn't get an explanation. Yes, we were originally smooshed by dad, but then I believe he moved and we stayed smooshed.

It was a good last vacay before our little rascal gets here. Pretty soon you're going to have to stop in Orem and Cedar to do a little bit of babysitting on your way to Vegas.

The little gold thing is a musical instrument ornament that Brooke took off their little, mini Christmas tree. It was a slight miracle that I captured a photo of Brooke looking at me. Believe me, there were about 10 others of me trying to get a face shot of her.

The smooshing picture is hilarious, that's why I took it.

Let's just say our trip was so calm, peaceful and restful with no little people to deal with, so I guess Rebecca and Dallas can vacay with us next year if they find a babysitter...

As for making two babysitting stops on the way to Vegas, hmmmmm, we'll have to give that some thought.

I love you girls!!!!!!! Thanks for your comments. You always make me laugh.
