Winning T-shirt Design; Family Talent Show

Monday was green t-shirt day. Brooke found a butterfly that didn't fly away and was a novelty for the grandchildren to look at and hold.

There were children's classes in the morning. 

There was free time for the adults to choose various activities to do.

At the bowery, the children had an opportunity to make rockets to launch.

Every grandchild took the job of constructing a rocket very seriously and were eager to shoot them off.

Little Jonah was overjoyed when each time his rocket shot off, it went the farthest of all--every time!

Wynne was dismayed when one time her pink rocket shot off into the trees and she thought it was lost for good. 

Unbeknownst to her, Glen found a way to get down the embankment behind the trees and retrieved her rocket.

This picture tells it all about how she felt when her grandpa presented her rocket to her.

That afternoon there was family Aspen Follies at the field where all the families at the camp took turns at the different organized activity stations.

There were various sports competitions organized between families. Our family signed up to compete in volleyball and we had our cheering section from atop the playground--Madison and Claire.

At one point in the day, the group of family members who were willing to be in the evening family talent show got together to rehearse at the cabin.

Glen had talked them into doing silly "magic" tricks with him. The little boys were slightly entertained by the big people towering above them.

The entertainers were getting a kick out of themselves and their cleverness and were just hoping the audience would appreciate their antics.

There was a row of little grandboys anxious to see their tricks.

Look who made an appearance after being a no-show all day long. Poor Sarah had been throwing up all the night before and was not feeling very chipper most of the day. 

Thankfully, by evening she was feeling better and she kept her germs away from everyone as she enjoyed the performance from a distant sideline.

The moment we all had been waiting for... Glen took the stage to do the opening act.

Then the rest of the group joined him on stage.

They performed each trick with precision and enthusiasm.

It took a while to get the electronics hooked up for Brooke's part of the talent show, but it was certainly worth the effort!! Everyone LOVED Brooke's animated story of Abinadi that she had previously created for her Young Women's class.

There were just a few other acts from other families and some acts from the camp leaders. Thankfully, they asked if there were any other acts that anybody wanted to do and Jonah got his chance to be in the spotlight, with Magnus as his sidekick.

At the end of the first night's entertainment, the camp leaders spent about 30 minutes dancing on stage and invited any camp participants to go up and join them. All the little boys were excited about that and ran up on stage to dance with them. 

Jonah turned out to be a performance stand-out with his dancing and was eager to once again be center stage sharing his moves for the audience. 

Evening family playtime included Glen, Jacob, Logan and Eli playing pickleball.        

Dallas had entered an Instagram photo submission for the best family t-shirt award and we won the contest!! 

No one needs to know that no other family submitted their t-shirt design. We feel we earned the best t-shirt award because we were the only family that had a different colored t-shirt for each day.

Another wonderful day at Aspen Grove had come to an end.
