Jacob's family flew into town from Omaha. They wanted to see how Natalie was doing and, as Jacob puts it, BYU "just happened" to have a home game this weekend. So that made everyone doubly happy to be here.
First order of business--take a photo of Luke with his two broken wrists. That's what racing on/falling off of a hoverboard can do to a person.
Good news is he is getting his brace off tomorrow. He is also getting his cast off, but will need to wear a brace for a while on that arm as that is the arm with fractures in two bones.
Saturday morning Rebecca's family joined us for a French toast breakfast so the cousins could play together for a little while.
Look who joined us for dinner!! ABE!! The server asked Abe why he was wearing a green shirt when all the rest of us were in BYU shirts.
Claire and Madison got busy making a fort with all the blankets and lots of toys.
As soon as they got it all made, it was time for Jacob's family to go to Provo so they could meet Natalie for lunch.
Natalie went back to finish her afternoon of schooling while Jacob's family spent the afternoon running into people they knew.
They saw counselors from Aspen Grove and BYU basketball player, Tyler Haws.
Glen had the great idea for me to ride down to Provo with him to have dinner with the family before the BYU/Utah football game.
We went to Brick Oven, which Glen always calls Heaps of Pizza, and it always brings back such fond memories from way back when he was a new missionary at the Language Training Center and the missionaries were able to go eat there.
We met Jacob's family at Brick Oven after they had picked up Natalie. Notice how she changed into a BYU shirt. Nothing but loyal fans in their family!!
Abe, Klarissa and baby Monty were at a work retreat in Jackson Hole. They decided it would be a great idea if they came here for the big rivalry game.
Abe had dropped Klarissa and Monty off at the BYU bookstore before he came to eat with us. She was anxious to buy BYU paraphernalia for their family.
It looks like Monty was enjoying himself. Glen said he was the best baby all through the game.
Claire is an avid BYU fan. Jacob's enthusiasm has sure rubbed off the most onto her.
I was sad I was not going to see Klarissa and Monty. But Abe had the great idea for us to follow him to the bookstore and we were able to see them when she came out.
I gave Klarissa a piece of the leftover pizza which she ate while Abe changed from green to the new blue shirt she had just bought him. Then they were off to the game, and I drove home by myself.
Jacob's family was reveling in the BYU gameday atmosphere.
She was so excited to get a free headband and a pompom. She's ready to cheer for her favorite team.
BYU beats Utah with a score of 26-17. I would say that is worthy of a fireworks celebration.
And it also gives a good reason for the fans to storm the field.
Of course Jacob's family was down on the field basking in the glory of the win with the hoards of ecstatic BYU fans.
Fortunately, they had taken rain ponchos and were prepared for when the downpour hit the stadium.
Looks like everyone in the family was happy over the whole experience and especially the outcome of the game.
It was such a fun, but extremely late night for them. Glen rode home with Abe's family and didn't get to bed until after 2:30 a.m. YIKES!!!!
Glen slept for 4 hours. We had to be at a church in Draper by 7:45 a.m. so we could meet with the leaders of our branch to hold our sacrament meeting and then a branch council after that.
Then off to the prison we went to have our worship service with the inmates at 9:00 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m.
Since we knew we would be gone all morning, we thought Abe's family would be gone by the time we got home. Happy for us, they were just getting ready to leave for the airport as we arrived home, so we got a quick hug in before they left to go back to North Carolina.
Klarissa's dad was at their home taking care of Newland, Wynne and Magnus. That was sure kind of him to do that all by himself.
Glen settled in for an afternoon nap.
Rebecca's family arrived after they were finished with church so the cousins could play together. Ben's family came a couple of hours later after their church. It was fun seeing Rebecca and Ben wearing the same family reunion t-shirt.
We took a grandparents/grandchildren photo and then it was Sunday dinner time.
We got a rousing game of Taboo going. What made it so exciting was when Kade got a hold of the buzzer and was so proud of himself making that loud, annoying sound. Levi enjoyed having his turn with the noisy buzzer as well.
Caroline is so cute with the little boys. She calls them her babies. The first thing she asks when she knows they will be joining us is "When will Ben and Haley get here so I can see my babies?"
A bunch of us ended the evening by going up to Bountiful Boulevard and watching the sunset. That is Natalie's favorite thing to do. It was nice sitting there enjoying the beautiful view of the valley and visiting together.
This morning Jacob and Laurie drove Natalie down to Provo. She has Mondays off, so that worked out well for her schedule--unlike the rest of the children in the family who were missing school today.
We played a couple of games of Qwirkle together waiting for Jacob and Laurie to get home. They brought Papa John's pizza for lunch and ate that before heading off to the airport to catch their flight back home to Omaha.
It was a wonderful weekend being with so many of our loved ones. We were missing Sarah's family and Abe's other three children. Family togetherness is the best!!!!
