As we were leaving Halifax, we kept getting warnings from the captain that we were heading into very rough waters and if any of us have the tendency to get seasick, we should begin taking proper precautions immediately.
This is something I've never seen on any other cruise. Following the rough seas warning, these barf bag pouches appeared at various locations throughout the ship. I'm happy to report that nobody in our company needed this handy, dandy, at-the-ready bag for any queasiness that might want to make its appearance in areas where people were walking around. It was actually kind of disgusting.
And is it just me or does someone else out there see the resemblance to an egg on top of that metal post? Every single time I came upon this decorative topper, I couldn't help but see the round, yellow, egg yolk sitting right on top of the egg white.
I guess the highlight of our day at sea was the only picture I took during the day. We attended The Captain's Corner in The Palace (while Dad was being a studious Legacy class attender elsewhere).
Sitting on stage was the man in charge of the hotel end of everything on the ship, the Captain, the engineer and last--but definitely NOT lease--Jimmy, our cruise director. Audience members could ask any question they wanted of any of these men. Some of their answers were very funny.
This is the view of the ocean as it was swirling and making 10- to 14-foot waves.
It was another dress-up dinner that evening. Nani and I are checking out how we look in our full-length mirror (either that or waiting for Dad and Mom to get all gussied up for dinner and the show).
These are some of the dinner plates we ordered.
It was lobster night and the people who ordered lobster seemed very happy with their meals. And those of us who didn't order lobster got lobster anyway because Vincente insisted on making it a lobsterfest for everyone at the table.
Vincente's expertise was used when he helped remove all the lobsters from their tails.
A dinner is never complete without dessert!!!
We were always happy to be sitting by a window at dinner, but we were especially happy this particular evening because we were so curious to see how bad the sea was getting to be.
Although the water was churning, the most curious--and wonderful--sight we saw were the patches of blue sky in between the clouds. We didn't dwell on the rough seas because we were so happy to see a glimmer of hope for the weather to clear up the last couple of days we were on vacation. We hadn't seen blue skies in an entire week.
Here's Nani standing by the marquee, telling us our entertainment for the evening was "Oh What a Night With the Unexpected Boys." It was a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
The four singers were very wonderful entertainers who put on a good show for us that evening.
There was a sad thing that night. Nani and I could find no exciting after-the-show entertainment. I'm thinking we turned in early that night to prepare for our last port of call the next day.
Sweet dreams!
