Brooke Turns 16; Eli Turns 13; Maverick Is 1 Month Old; Glen Angiogram; Caroline and Madison Piano Recital; Newland at BYU Football Camp

Brooke had her 16th birthday. Like most teenagers that age, she was very anxious to get her driver's license.

Also, like most teenagers her age, she can hardly wait to get her own car. She did get her own (miniature) car!
She passed her test and is now the proud owner of her official driver's license. This is her first solo drive to her job at Lagoon.
She looks confident...? How cute of her to buckle in her crocheted dinosaur Caroline had made for her birthday gift as her companion for the drive.

Another day she drove her siblings to our home to pick up something. It was cute to see them out alone together, and of course, they needed to have a candy fix while they were here.
Glen and I met Dave Ziemski at our usual monthly hang-out, El Matador.

He was telling us about an experience he and some of his children had as they participated in an activity provided by the memory care center where Bonnie is living.

It helps simulate how a person with dimentia sees, thinks and feels. He felt it gave them a very good perspective of what Bonnie is going through right now in her life.
Glen joined in with this group of family members who were trying to get in their last escape room experience on the get-out passes they bought almost a year ago. Natalie was able to join in because it was in Provo.
Some of them went to a trampoline park which was also on their get-out pass. Lincoln looking up at Rebecca, with his head resting on his hands, is so cute.

Jeff and Sarah now have a teenager on their hands. Eli is now 13-years-old. He has a job working at an orchard owned by someone in their ward. What an ambitious young man!

He has made some great friends in their ward. This photo shows the Sunday the boys got matching buddy ties and were encouraged to share their testimonies together in testimony meeting. Eli is definitely growing up.
Apparently the mosquitoes really love Lincoln and Lincoln apparently had a bad reaction to one that bit him by the looks of the huge red area on his arm.
I got such a kick out of the following photos Sarah shared with me. Lincoln and Jonah are always so adorable, and so committed, when they get into character of whatever person or thing they are playing.

Sarah wrote: Jonah has become the vice president of our neighborhood this week and Lincoln is his body guard. Duties of the vice president include singing the national anthem every morning along with the capitals of the states song.

Lincoln definitely looks like a body guard!!
I was looking the part of a body guard as I wore my dark glasses inside and out after I got my eyes dilated. Good news is there has been very little change in my vision. Hurrah for that news!!
The photos of baby Maverick with his older brothers are so cute. Kade looks like he's really gotten the hang of how to hold a baby.

These are the same-clothes/different babies photos of Kade, Levi and Maverick at one-month-old.

Glen's health drama continued with him still struggling to breathe and still having chest pain since his hospital stay. Exactly one month after his hospital stay, he was back in the hospital to have an angiogram done on him.
His stress test was inconclusive meaning he may have a blockage, but probably doesn't have a blockage. The doctor felt like it would be good to have an angiogram and I kept wondering why they didn't do it when he was in the hospital the first time.
Glen was not too happy to have the nurse miss the vein in his left arm. As she is putting it in his right arm, we were wondering if that would mess up the procedure because they said they were putting the catheter in his right arm at the wrist.
Apparently, there was no problem with the IV and the catheter going in the same arm, because a short time later he was in the recovery room.

He had been prepped for a groin insertion if there happened to be a problem getting it in through his arm. We were happy they were successful in the arm because it was a lot quicker recovery time for him.

He had a pressure band around his wrist which they kept decreasing pressure every half hour or so. He also had a weird splint that curved out which prevented him from having his hand bend too far back. He had to wear that for 24 hours.
The doctor didn't really find anything of concern during the angiogram. She said the good news is his valves are working great. He doesn't have any artery disease. He has never had a heart attack.

The not-so-good news is there still is no explanation for why he has been, and continues to have, the symptoms he has been experiencing. It is so frustrating!! She feels like it could be a problem of his blood not getting all the way to the small veins like it should. She changed one of his medications to help with blood flow and kept him on two diuretics.

She has referred him to a dyspnea (shortness of breath) clinic where they look at the heart and lungs. That appointment is a month away. In the meantime, he will have a sleep apnea appointment this coming week. We do know his oxygen rate goes way low during the night. We just want some answers and some help!!

As per every surgery or procedure or colonoscopy, Glen always craves Arby's.
The birdfeeder the Goldens gave Glen on his birthday hung in the tree for a week with nary a bird to be seen. Then...when to our wondering eyes did behold...but a SQUIRREL eating the bird food!

We have seen birds now, but the squirrel definitely seems to rule the roost.
Caroline has been getting her pioneer wardrobe figured out for her upcoming trek experience. Looks like Madison is helping model the clothing.
These two girls had a piano recital in a meeting room in the basement of the Bountiful library.

It was so fun listening to the other students performing and was expecially nice watching and listening to our granddaughters perform their numbers.

Caroline was the only one who had memorized both of her pieces.

We were very happy they invited us to attend their recital.
Look at this beautiful group of friends I am so blessed to be able to associate with. Luncheons are so fun as we chat and chat together. This time we ate at Red Rock in Salt Lake City. It was in celebration of LaVona's birthday.

(Colleen, Jane, Diane, me, LaVona and Jan)
Glen and I had Friday date night in Salt Lake City. We ate at Johnny Rockets at City Creek Center before heading over to the tabernacle on Temple Square.
We watched a performance of Bells at Temple Square. LeAnna Wilmore is the conductor. She lives in our stake and it is always lovely to see her conducting. I really enjoyed the evening.

Glen was having a difficult time breathing the whole time and after a few of the numbers, he would have liked to have been done with it all. Sad for him, but happy for me because I loved all the numbers. Can't beat that quality of entertainment. Such a treat free of charge!

We love free concerts!!
Loved this photo Andy posted of Dad's success at this archery shoot. I didn't realize you could hit a clay pigeon with an arrow. He is showing his clay pigeon bull's eye.
It was another play date at Hale for Dad, Mom, Nani and us. This production was fabulous! The only thing that would have made it better was if our neighbor had been performing. Unfortunately, she was in the other cast.
The set was beautiful and the play was delightful. Red Lobster is our usual standing restaurant after the plays.
Abe's family has come to town for a month. Although, despite the fact Abe and Klarissa own two homes in San Francisco and two homes in North Carolina, they are now homeless.

Abe arrived sporting a new case of poison ivy, which he gets every time he works in their yard. (Good thing they are selling their home!!) Thankfully, he was able to do a telemed appointment and got put on prednisone before the rash on his face spread to his eyes.
There is a lot of fun and games and schoolwork and practicing and reading going on around here.
Our favorite for three days was when Glen and Newland read the Book of Mormon together. The part they are in is where King Benjamin makes his speech from up on a tower so all the people could hear him.

Glen suggested they take turns reading from the tower (upstairs). Such a great idea to make it more fun for Newland to run up the stairs every three verses and then run back down to sit in the chair for three verses.

Newland's cousins, Eli and Carson, even got in on the action one day when they were here.

The highlight of this week for Newland has been attending a football camp at BYU.
They took the whole family so the others could do some fun things around town while Newland was at his camp.
Newland is on the right wearing blue and has just launched the football right into the trash can.
We were driving to Ben's home one day and what did we spot standing broadside in the road but this horse. That's not a sight you see everyday. When we drove back home, the horse was gone, so we hope the owners got it back in the corral.
What a treat to see baby Maverick once again. The little guy is growing. He has been off oxygen during the day and hopefully soon will be off it completely.
What a little cutie. Since he was born so early and he is doing so well and Haley is all healed up, she has decided to join the family reunion at Aspen Grove. Hurrah!!!!!
