SURPRISE!

Guess who popped into town to see the new baby...?

Abe and Klarissa hitched a ride with Glen from Denver to here to surprise the family when everyone returned home from church.

Brooke was happy to see her Grandpa home again.

Abe always likes getting in on the action around here and new baby Spencer was a piece of the action he didn't want to miss. Thanks to Klarissa for figuring out a way to detour them home from Denver via a Sunday stop in North Salt Lake.

There's nothing like family getting together on a Sunday to have dinner, play games and eat popcorn.

Posing with Spencer.

What a cute little boy.

There's nothing sweeter than a newborn baby.

March Madness At its Best

I was not planning on going to Denver to watch the NCAA Tournament until Abe called and told me he was in to fly out on Thursday morning. With that incentive, I left Wednesday evening and picked him up Thursday morning and he and I got to enjoy 4 basketball games together at the Pepsi Center. The underdog won each game except the one that mattered the most which was BYU's victory over Wofford.

Now it is Friday and we have a little down time. What to do?!?

How about we turn one game on the TV, one game on one computer, and yet another game on another computer? Great idea!!! March Madness doesn't get much better.

And a Happy St. Patrick's Day It Was

Today was a special day because it was the day we got our first glimpse of baby Spencer. He was born March 15th and weighed 6 lbs. 12 ozs.

Move over Eli--there's a new baby in the house!

Brooke was very happy to see her parents and didn't even really pay much attention to her new baby brother.

I did enjoy her comment earlier in the day when we were anxiously awaiting them to come home from the hospital. I asked Brooke what she thought her new baby brother looks like and she matter-of-factly replied, "A boy!"

Caroline was happy to see her family when she woke up from her nap.

She caught a glimpse of the new baby and soon ventured over to take a closer look.

Not everyone was wearing green today, but those who were sure looked cute!

Glen's Quotes of the Week Spoken From His Own Lips

After having been on pain medication for two weeks and having not been behind the wheel for that same length of time, Glen says to me as I'm driving him to work last week,

     "I think I would be okay driving."

Isn't that what all drunks and drugies say when they're behind the wheel right before they crash?

Glen went to work every day last week. He worked shorter days, but he worked each day. As he exhaustedly climbed back into the car at the end of his work day, he would give an audible sigh of relief as he settled into the seat. By the last day, he declared,

     "It feels like I've had 5 Mondays this week."

Each day seemed as long as a week to him.

He was on pain medication at the beginning of the week and by the end of the week he had weaned himself off all medication. As he got in the car Friday afternoon after work, he exclaimed,

     "It's amazing how much better my mind works when it's not all foggy with drugs!"

He would make an excellent say-no-to-drugs spokesperson!

Here's how my man looks now that he's off drugs. Quite handsome and with no scary eyes. His neck wound is healing and he was able to button up his white shirt and put on a tie today.

Things are definitely improving around here!

That Time of the Month

It was that time of the month again... Time for the monthly birthday party at Mom's house.

The February birthday people we celebrated were Rachel (who was turning 8);

Maggie (turning 10);

Rebecca (turning un-pregnant soon);

and Jeff, with honorable mention going out to Mark and Thadeus (turning 8).

We loved digging into the yummy desserts.

This was Glen's first outing since his surgery. He was very tired and ready to leave after the candles were blown out.

He was most anxious to eat his Popsicle dessert when he got back home.
