Quotes of the Week

An understanding of God's fabulous plan takes the mystery out of life and the uncertainty out of our future. It allows each of us to choose how we will live here on earth and where we will live forever.

-- Russell M. Nelson

Jesus Christ lives and stands there at every moment, waiting for us to choose to call upon Him to provide succor, strength, and salvation.

-- Mathias Held

Think of it! The power of parental prayer! As we consider the challenge of rearing children in a world fraught with temptations, false ideologies and materialistic enticements, do you not feel the need for guidance and inspiration beyond your human capacity. There is no greater help or strength that a father or mother can obtain than through securing that help from the Lord.

-- Paul H. Dunn

Quotes of the Week

Truth taught without love can cause feelings of judgment, discouragement, and loneliness. It often leads to resentment and division--even conflict. On the other hand, love without truth is hollow and lacks the promise of growth.

-- John C. Pingree

It is simply not possible to quantify the life-refining influence of covenant women of God.

You tackle real life issues with a rare combination of skill, compassion, insight and love. The entire mission of the Lord's church is strengthened by your efforts.

-- Russell M. Nelson

Please stop running to the point of exhaustion. Be quiet. Be Still. Simplify. Be meek and lowly of heart and pray. I testify that miracles will come when we slow down, when we calm down and when we kneel down. All that the Father has can one day be yours. What a truly hopeful way to face your future.

Quotes of the Week

Maintaining the presence of the spirit requires effort, energy, prayer, scripture, study, study of the words of living prophets, preparation to partake of the sacrament, daily acts of personal devotion. That is how we will get answers.

I fear that sometimes we all look for answers from unreliable sources, and fail to draw the best sources -- the Prophet, the scriptures, and the Spirit.

-- Camille N. Johnson

Oftentimes we can find ourselves, patiently -- or sometimes impatiently -- waiting upon the Lord. Waiting to be healed physically or emotionally. Waiting for answers that penetrate the deepest part of our hearts. Waiting for a miracle.

-- Amy A. Wright

Think of it! The Savior suffered [ains and afflictions and temptations of every kind so that He can comfort us, heal us, rescue us in times of need.

-- Russell M. Nelson

Little Women; School Dance; Easter; Jonah's Baptism; Abe's Family Trip to London

The day after we returned home from our cruise, we had a play scheduled at Hale. We were so hoping Mom would be feeling better and would be able to go with us to see Little Women, but it didn't happen and the three of us went by ourselves.

I really, really enjoyed the play. I loved reading the book and so it was a treat to see the story played out on the stage.

We broke tradition of going to Red Lobster since Mom and Dad were not with us and tried something new to Nani--Hu Hot. Jacob's family introduced us to this restaurant in Omaha and Nani enjoyed going.

We pile meat, veggies, noodles, etc. in a bowl, pour over sauces of our choice and then hand it to the cooks to cook it for us. We have no one but ourselves to blame if we do not like what we chose.
Rebecca and Caroline were the lucky recipients of the tickets my parents did not use. They could not go with us on Saturday because it was the day of the prom, so they went the night before.
These are the prom photos of Caroline and her group.

This is Brooke and her date.
Dallas and Rebecca went to see the play Wicked. Sarah was jealous.
Caroline once again helped with the City of North Salt Lake's Easter Egg Hunt.

Bunnies and eggs are fun, but it is the best when we remember the real reason we celebrate Easter.
We had two patriarchal blessings on Easter and then had the family over for Easter dinner.

We got this surprising email a couple of days later from our neighbor, Kathy Jacketta.
We went out to survey the scene and found these tread marks and the damaged tree that was set back upright in hopes it will survive being hit and knocked down.
The next day I took this photo of the damage to the tree and its relation to our home. So thankful it didn't make it as far as our house, but even more thankful Kathy was able to get out of the way. She had been weeding right in that corner of her lot.
Stewarts sent out an invitation one evening asking who would like to go see this movie with them and to meet at the movie theater. Bill and Jan Evans rode with us.

The movie was SO GOOD!!! I stayed awake through the whole thing, so that is a sign of a good movie!!
At the end of the movie, we were all surprised when T. C. Christensen stood up and invited the whole audience to join with him and the star of the movie, Paul Wuthrich, in signing autographs and getting photos taken. (Don't know this woman, but loved Paul standing in front of his photo.)
Some of our group got in the photo: Bill and Jan Evans, Bruno and Colleen Kossin, Grant and Diane Stewart, and Lane Lewis. Don't know what happened to LaVona.

Glen was helping Dennis Crandall during picture time as Dennis was having a really hard time walking due to pulling a muscle in his hip.
The next evening we were all invited to a surprise 80th birthday party honoring Colleen Kossin held at one of their three sons' home.

The food display was beautiful and everything tasted delicious.
Jonah got baptized on Saturday. He looked so handsome all decked out in his suit.

This is a cute cousin photo with Jonah and Kade.
A family photo was taken at the Excell home after the baptism.

Not knowing the story behind Lincoln's less-than-thrilled face, I am guessing he had taken off his Sunday clothes when he got home so he could play with cousins and then was mad about putting his Sunday shirt back on. Who can blame him??!!

Jeff's parents and his sister's family were at the baptism. Jeff and Sarah's Bess family friends came for the luncheon.

This is the crew who attended from Sarah's side of the family. We were sad Mom didn't feel like going after having yet another procedure done the day before. It was nice that Dad and Nani were there and we could send food home with Dad for him and Mom to eat the next couple of days.

Not only was Jonah having a special day, but it was also a special day for Maverick. It was his birthday and he was turning 2 years old.

Maverick didn't quite know what to do with the big, lighted #2 candle all lit up on the plate of delicious cinnamon rolls Sarah had made and was sending home with their family. YUM!!!!
That afternoon, Jeff, Sarah, and Eli had signed up for a 5K race.
It was the day before May 4th, so why not use that as a Star Wars theme for the race??

To end this post, here are some of the photos of Abe and Klarissa's family trip to London. Klarissa is a fabulous trip planner, and her posts afterward allow us to live vicariously through their adventures. Enjoy!
