Sympathy Rolls

Someone else in this household has also found it necessary to go to the doctor and came home loaded up with his own medications from the pharmacy.

Glen is now on an antibiotic and has an inhaler and cough syrup to help him get his illness under control. All I can say is Jeff and Sarah--watch out!!

There is a benefit from being sick. Our kind neighbor, Kim Cowley, felt sorry for us and dropped off some delicious, warm, homemade cinnamon rolls.

Mmmmmmmmm, good!!!!!

The Excells Came To Visit

The weekend we had been waiting for had finally arrived when Sarah and Jeff came to town. Hurrah!! Glen came home from work a little early and got the grilled chicken ready for serving while Sarah fed Jeff some grapes.

Glen and Jeff had some guy bonding time watching T.V.

We enjoyed playing Rook, although I think Glen would have rather had a more aggressive partner. Abe, where are you when we need you?

Our big highlight of Saturday was going to see "Phantom" at the Hale Centre Theatre. It wasn't THE "Phantom of the Opera" like I'd thought when we'd arranged for Jeff and Sarah to go with us. Oops!! Oh, well--still fun to get together with my parents for that.

We made a stop at IGA to buy fertilizer and grass seed. Sarah was hoping Jeff would consent to buying a new pet there--a baby chick--but they came out empty-handed.

While waiting for the guys to get the stuff loaded into the trunk, Sarah and I entertained ourselves by taking pictures of each other.

Sarah could be found several times throughout the day helping herself to some Oreo cream pie.

Dallas, Rebecca, Brooke, Ben and Heather drove up from Provo to have dinner with us.

It was nice having Jeff and Sarah to sit with at church. I got several comments on how cute and happy they look.

Pretty soon their 2-day vacation had come to an end and they were packing up to leave.

It was so nice having them here, although I have been quite concerned about them being around us sickos. I have been coughing my head off for the last 2 weeks and Glen was sneezing his head off and had a very runny nose and was feverish both days they were here. We definitely were not at our best and I hope we haven't passed our germs on to anyone.

I've been back to the doctor and the new diagnosis is pneumonia. So he added 2 more medications onto my asthma medications and I'm now a walking pharmacy.

Between all the coughing and now all these drugs in me, I have been having some very wakeful nights.

Good thing I have this blog to keep me occupied in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep.

Primping for the Photo Shoot

As we continue to take the necessary steps to get Benjamin ready to submit his mission papers, we got to the part of needing a photo. It was suggested we take a home snapshot of him and I vetoed that in a hurry! I wanted him to go to a studio and get a professional one taken just like I made his older brothers do before their missions.

Ben thought of a way to get the task completed that would be the least painful for him--and it was kind of like "killing two birds with one stone". He suggested we get the photo taken right before his patriarchal blessing and that way he'd already be dressed up in his suit and wouldn't have to get all decked out in his suit another day just for a picture taking session.

I got my own wheels turning in my brain and decided that since we were doing these things in Provo, we might as well include Brooke in the photo session. It seems that despite numerous requests for her parents to provide me with a more updated photo of Brooke to replace the 3-month-old one I have on display, they have failed me miserably and so it was time to take things into my own hands.

I scheduled Brooke to join Benjamin at the photography studio. But first, there was work to be done!! Brooke needed a make-over. It started with getting her hair done.

Brooke was happy for a while with her cheese pieces and water to drink, but soon Rebecca had to add hair clips and a squirt bottle to the tray to keep her entertained during the process.

And just when her hair was all finished and she was looking adorable with her new do, her fingernails screamed for some attention.

Dallas took matters into his own hands while Rebecca went to change into a dress. Brooke was cooperative for the first half of her manicure.

But then the computer had to be brought out for her to watch to keep her occupied while Dallas finished up painting the fingernails on her other hand. Brooke was so excited when Ben arrived so she could show him what she was watching.

We posed for a picture before heading out the door for the real picture-taking experience.

Our appointment was at the Target Photography Studio and Glen immediately got busy entertaining himself while I embarassed Benjamin by taking his picture while we were waiting.

Dallas was such a good sport to entertain Brooke by pushing her around in a cart while we were waiting to be called in and after when we were viewing the photographs and deciding which ones to order.

Dallas then took Brooke home to put her to bed while Glen, Rebecca and I went with Benjamin to get his patriarchal blessing. It was another sweet experience, just like it has been with all the other children. We topped off the evening with a late dinner at Brick Oven.

For your viewing pleasure, we now have access to the photo session online. Click on photos, type in "Kim Thomas" for the name, and the access code is "LTTT0890106388TAR".

ENJOY!!!
